    Peppol-accredited e-Invoicing services

In New Zealand, the adoption of e-Invoicing has been on the government’s agenda since 2018, when the Trans-Tasman Electronic Invoicing agreement was signed. The agreement was created to enable a common e-Invoicing approach in New Zealand and Australia to improve productivity and reduce the costs of doing business through an interoperable single digital economic market.

The e-Invoicing standard adopted by the New Zealand government is Peppol, which is an internationally established framework.

The Peppol e-Invoicing Network allows invoices to be exchanged between different Accounting systems. Link4 was one of the leading service providers in New Zealand to be Peppol certified.

In June 2021, as part of the MBIE plans, the New Zealand government mandated e-Invoicing for all central government agencies by 31 March 2022.

According to einvoicing.govt.nz, over 280 million B2B invoices are exchanged in New Zealand each year, and it is estimated that the adoption of e-Invoicing could save the New Zealand economy $4.4 billion over 10 years.

Switching to e-Invoicing results in reduced processing costs, reduced administration delays, streamlined invoice processing, and improved trading relationships.

The MBIE (Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment) will also be consulting on options for mandatory adoption of e-Invoicing across all levels of government going forward.
