Australia and New Zealand join a growing list of countries, including Japan and Malaysia, in adopting the Peppol PINT standard. Effective November 15, 2024, all Peppol service providers must support the transmission of PINT A-NZ invoices and credit notes, although the existing ANZ specifications will remain optional until mid-2025.
“PINT A-NZ marks a significant evolution in eInvoicing, creating a unified approach that simplifies sending and receiving cross border transactions for businesses of all sizes,” said Sam Hassan, Chief Technology Officer at Link4. “Peppol framework is heading towards becoming the global eInvoicing delivery network for many countries by simplifying and enhancing cross-border operability, allowing businesses to compete more effectively in global markets.”
PINT, an extension of the Peppol BIS 3.0 standard, enhances interoperability while accommodating country-specific eInvoicing requirements. It enables businesses to create invoices that meet the tax and business requirements of both the sender and recipient’s countries, making international transactions smoother. This update replaces the current ANZ Peppol BIS 3.0 specifications and introduces a phased roll out:
- November 15, 2024: All Peppol service providers must support PINT A-NZ invoices and credit notes, though the existing ANZ specifications will remain optional.
- May 15, 2025: The legacy ANZ specifications will no longer be supported.
Link4 has been readying itself for the transition, working closely with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other stakeholders. It has successfully completed rigorous testing with major ERP systems, including TechnologyOne and NetSuite, as well as other access points, to ensure businesses can adopt PINT A-NZ seamlessly.
“Our extensive experience with Peppol standards and in integrating with leading ERP systems has allowed us to prepare our eInvoicing solution to meet the unique needs of businesses across sectors,” Hassan added. “Through collaboration and thorough preparation, we’re enabling organisations to adopt PINT A-NZ without disruption to their operations.”
